A book review of "The Night of The Ticklers" by Paul Shipton

The Night of The Ticklers is about chubby bodied aliens with ten fingers on each hand invading Earth. Katy and Mike took a shortcut from school and ended up finding a lot of these aliens. These aliens were called "Ticklers" and they were spreading all over the villages! The Ticklers used their bendy arms and 20 fingers to tickle people. Katy and Mike didn't know what to do. Then, Katy came up with a brilliant idea to get rid of the aliens. Katy headed back to school and when she got there she went straight into the headteacher's office. Katy asked him to speak through a loudspeaker. Katy was planning on making the headteacher speak into the loudspeaker because he was so boring and he would put the aliens to sleep. Then they would want to go back to where they came from. Her plan worked, it really worked!! The Ticklers left and hopefully they won't come back ever again!

You Are What You Eat

We have been learning about how to keep ourselves healthy by eating well - and our final task was to cook a healthy meal. We had researched healthy and less healthy ingredients and decided to make a Chicken Caesar Salad with low-fat dressing; Garlic bread with low-fat butter and banana smoothies with low-fat milk. We also learned all about hygiene for cooking and wore aprons and hats which we made ourselves for the occasion. We were very careful to wash our hands thoroughly and ensure that our food preparation surfaces were clean. We even invited the Principal to come and taste our efforts. What a great afternoon - and the food was delicious!

Swimming lessons

This year we are getting swimming lessons at the Reef Resort pool. It is great fun! Some of us can swim already, some can swim a bit and some were very nervous!! The photograph shows us practicing putting our head in the water and blowing bubbles. We have to put on our 'balloon faces' and then blow out as much as we can while our heads are covered by the water. Then we practiced swimming across the pool making sure that our arms and legs were moving smoothly. The coach keeps telling us we are not being chased by sharks so we do not have to splash too much!
